RAY BRADBURY'S LAST BOOK: THE NEFERTITI-TUT EXPRESS

07.21.15

A wonderful little Egyptian ghost story that the author had designs of expanding into a screenplay. The author's last book, delivered to him in hospital he broke into tears exclaiming "A beautiful & fantastique book!" SIGNED by the artist. "In a ‘‘conversation’’ appended at the back of the book, Bradbury reveals that he got the idea for it from Warner Brothers animator Chuck [Bugs Bunny] Jones, who had stumbled upon the story’s central theme – that 19th-century British engineers crossing Egypt by train had burned mummies as fuel – in an article . . . Artist Gary Gianni has done an exceptional job of visualizing Bradbury’s story, with more than twenty drawings that give personality to the principal characters and that convey both the splendor of ancient Egypt and the grotesquerie of the pursuing mummy legions . . . Bradbury's parting gift to us all"
